E. Lee Rosenthal, CHW Ally

E. Lee Rosenthal, PhD, MS, MPH, has  contributed to the growth and development of the CHW workforce as an advocate and researcher for decades, originally in the ground-breaking National Community Health Advisor Study, 1994-1998. Dr. Rosenthal has played a sustaining role in the APHA CHW Section since 1991 and is faculty at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso at the Foster School of Medicine. Dr. Rosenthal is Co-Editor of the Wolters-Kluwer’ Journal of Ambulatory Care Management that focuses on CHWs, Community Health Centers, and health services research with the underserved.

Paige Menking, CHW Ally

Paige Menking, MPA, is the founder and principal of Ponderosa Public Health Consulting. Her work as a CHW ally has centered around support and advocacy for the CHW field. She has led and supported workforce development projects, training and curriculum design, research and evaluation, and supervision of CHW teams and public health interventions both at home in Texas and New Mexico and nationally across governmental and community based settings. She serves as the Governing Councilor for the APHA CHW Section and as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Community Health Workers (NACHW).

Durrell J. Fox, CHW

Durrell J. Fox, CHW has over 33 years of experience providing community/street outreach, direct services, support, case management, and advocacy. He is a CHW-Senior Technical Associate at the JSI Research and Training Institute’s Atlanta Office. Since 1991 Durrell has been involved in local, state, regional and national CHW workforce development efforts including serving as one of the founding members of the CHW Section of APHA, the American Association of CHWs, the Massachusetts Association of CHWs, the Georgia CHW Network and serves as a founding board member for NACHW. He also serves as the Deputy Editor for the Journal of Ambulatory Care Management.

Lily K. Lee, CHW Ally

Lily K. Lee, DrPH, MPH began her work with CHWs in the early 1990s in Oakland, CA in community, clinical, and school settings. She was the Director of the CHW/Promotores Academy at LLUH, where she developed clinic- and school-based CHW curriculum, training programs, organizational readiness trainings, and research and evaluation. As the founder and principal at Knowledge Transfer & Exchange Strategies, Dr. Lee continues to work along CHWs in leading regional, state, and national CHW workforce and sustainability efforts. She served on the NACHW Board and is a member of the CHW-CRE advisory group and National CHW-SW Workgroup.

Floribella Redondo Martinez, CHW

Floribella Redondo-Martinez, CHW, began her journey as a Promotora in the early 1990s, educating her farmworker peers on HIV and STD’s in the agriculture fields of Arizona and California. She is Co-Founder/President and CEO of the Arizona Community Health Workers Association, an Advisory Board member for Arizona CHW Voluntary Certification, Co-chair of the Arizona CHW Coalition, member of the National CHW Center for Research and Evaluation, founding member of NACHW, CHW Council member of the Envision Project, and current Chair of the APHA CHW Section.

Julie St. John, CHW Ally

Julie Ann St. John, DrPH, MPH, MA, CHWI, is a tenured Associate Professor in the Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), Abilene campus. She has served on the Texas CHW Advisory Committee from 2011-2020, served on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Promotores and Community Health Workers from 2017-2022, co-chairs the TAPCHW training center, is a leader of the APHA CHW Section, on the Board of Directors for the National Community Health Worker Association (NACHW), and has worked with CHWs for more than twenty years.
